Sensation Withdraws Protest With Big Rock Blue Marlin Officials

Morehead City-based fishing boat Sensation has withdrawn its protest and is no longer fighting the Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament’s ruling that disqualified their would-be winning prize marlin.

In a statement from the crew to Big Rock Blue Marlin officials, it says, “the owners of the fishing vessel Sensation, withdraws its protest contesting the disqualification of the 619.4 pound marlin caught during the 2023 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament. After reviewing the tournament rules and the applicable laws and further examination of the blue marlin, we conclude the tournament properly applied the tournament rules and made the correct decision in disqualifying our 2023 tournament catch.”

The crew went on to say in the statement, “we would like to congratulate the fishing vessel Sushi on winning the tournament with its 484.5 pound blue marling. We look forward to fishing the 2024 Big Rock Blue Marling Tournament.”
